O
ur Q1 2014 issue honors
Brian Friedman, CFO of the
New York Jets, an extremely
accomplished executive and New
Jerseyan, built like a linebacker, yet
unassuming and sincere. Articles on
his industry peers, including Charlie
Mierswa, CFO of the Brooklyn Nets
and Barclays Center, and Luis Miguel Garcia,
CFO of the New York Red Bulls, will give you
a bonanza of sports-related coverage. I am very
excited to announce that our second-quarter
cover story will highlight Mark Guinan, CFO of
Quest Diagnostics.
Check out the column entitled “Is Little
GAAP Finally Here?” by Elliott A. Roth and
Neal Godt of EisnerAmper, and articles by
finance executives Brian Giambagno, Gerry
Najarian, and Andreas Rothe. And new this
month is our “Business and Money” section.
At the December CFO Studio Reception hon-
oring Caroline Dorsa, CFO of PSEG, attendees
(108 finance and other executives) got surprise
tickets to a New Jersey Devils game, courtesy
of the Devils and Prudential Center. Ms. Dorsa
shared insights about the role of CFO and
PSEG’s future plans, and offered CFO Studio
some very nice compliments. We recently rolled
out an Executive Dinner Series, with a discus-
sion led by Rich Veldran, CFO of Dun & Brad-
street, about securing world-class finance talent.
Sponsored by Rothstein Kass, it was over-
subscribed and a great success. In 2014, we’ve
scheduled Executive Dinner Series to be led by
Glenn Sblendorio of The Medicines Company,
Jonathan Stearns of AP Stearns & Company,
Irv Rothman of Hewlett-Packard Financial
Services, Hugh Welsh of DSMNorth
America, Cheryl Marks Young of Easter
Seals New Jersey, and others. We’re
planning additional conferences on the
sports industry, biotech and pharma,
health care services, and more.
In late 2014 or 2015, right here
in New Jersey, we’ll hold The CFO
Conference and CFOs Who Rock! Awards, a
day-long technical conference that will include
panel discussions and breakout sessions by
noted CFOs and other high-profile executives,
with a CFO awards ceremony at day’s end.
Hundreds of CFOs are expected to attend.
Watch your inbox for more details. Remember
that CFOs and their companies never pay an
entry fee, membership fee, or any other cost,
at our events. CFO Studio is underwritten by
some impressive sponsors, including Chase,
Deloitte, EisnerAmper, Real Estate Strategies
Corporation, Robert Half, Rothstein Kass, The
Alliance Group, and others.
At the beginning of the NewYear, we findmixed
views fromCFOs as to the trend of the U.S. and
world economies, withmore finance executives
predicting a positive outlook…Yee Ha! So, where
do you think the economy is going? Email me
your thoughts:

As we get closer to the next presidential elec-
tion in 2016, many eyes are on the shrinking
Governor Christie, as he positions himself for
the national stage. Here’s hoping that the GW
Bridge matter will shrink away, as well. Please
contact me with your ideas as to how we might
enhance CFO Studio and how you might help
us do that. I look forward to hearing from you
and to seeing you at one, or many, of our events.
